Southern Limestone Coast Council is helping to spread festive cheer with the opening of the 2026 Township Festive Celebrations Grants.

Now in their second year, the grants are designed to support inclusive community-led events that bring people together over the holiday season.

Mayor Kylie Boston said Council was pleased to continue the initiative after a successful first year in 2025, when the program supported seven township celebrations across the district.

“These grants are a fantastic opportunity for our townships to bolster their end of year festivities, whether that’s adding some extra cheer to an existing tradition or starting something new,” Mayor Boston said.

Up to $350 in funding is available to incorporated community groups within the Council area and events must be open to all community members to be eligible. Supported expenses include food for a barbecue or sausage sizzle, decorations and festive displays, venue hire, set up costs, and entertainment or activities such as face painting.

Chief Executive Officer Gary Button said the Township Festive Celebration Grants are an important addition to Council’s broader grants and sponsorship program.

“Council’s aim is to provide support to the organisations, committees and clubs that are the backbone of our district. The Festive Celebration Grants are a simple, effective method of giving back to our townships in a positive and inclusive way,” said Mr Button.

As only one event in each township can receive funding, community groups are encouraged to apply quickly or submit joint applications.

More information is available in hardcopy from Council’s Principal Office and the Community Complex at Port MacDonnell, as well as online here.

Support with applications can also be sought by calling Council’s Community Development team on 08 8738 3000.

Applications close 5pm Friday 20 November 2026.
