Award Nominations

Nominations for the 2027 Australia Day Citizen of the Year Awards are now open!

The Southern Limestone Coast Council is seeking nominations for individuals who continue to make a difference in our district. Someone who contributes to our community, motivates those around them and reminds of us how great we can be when we’re at our best.

These individuals could be a volunteer, an advocate, an entrepreneur, a researcher, a sporting legend or a community hero!

The Australia Day Citizen of the Year Awards rely on members of the public to nominate. We encourage you to consider outstanding individuals in our community and submit a nomination. Amplify someone’s story and contributions by nominating them for:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Community Event of the Year
  • Award for Active Citizenship

Nominating is easy – visit citizenoftheyear.com.au and tell us who they are and how they’ve helped to make our community and state great. Alternatively, hard copy nomination forms are available to complete at the:

  • Principal Office: 324 Commercial Street West, Mount Gambier
  • Port MacDonnell Community Complex: 5 Charles Street, Port MacDonnell.

To find out more about the awards selection criteria, visit the criteria page on the Citizen of the Year website.

Nominations for 2026 close Friday 20 November 2026.
