The District Council of Grant celebrated community and connection with the return of its popular Positive Ageing Luncheons earlier this month as part of South Australia’s Week of Ageing Well.

Designed for residents aged 55 years and above, the luncheons provided an opportunity for residents to meet new people, friends to catch up, enjoy a meal together and celebrate ageing well.

Attendees at events held in Carpenter Rocks, Mount Schank, Port MacDonnell and Tarpeena wore their brightest colours, enjoyed games of bingo, prize giveaways and shared a meal, creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere at every venue.

Mayor Kylie Boston said the events were about more than just sharing a meal, they were a chance to strengthen social connections and celebrate the contributions of older residents.

“Our Positive Ageing Luncheons are all about encouraging our senior residents to stay connected, enjoy meaningful conversations and embrace what ageing well looks like in our community,” Mayor Boston said.

“Council is proud to provide these opportunities to recognise the valuable contributions of our seniors and support them in living happy and fulfilling lives.”
